The Land Beyond

The Hollow Tree.

by Alex Gordon (Age 7 - actually nearly 8)

Do you know I never believed in fairies or pixies or elves or even gnomes, until this amazing day. I’ll tell you the story .It all began one beautiful Summers day, “who wants to come on a walk to the Humpy Bumpy” shouted Mum, “yes please” we all chorused as we scrambled off to fetch our wellies and our coats.

When we got to the Humpy Bumpy mum said, “Who wants to roll down the hill?” We all said yes!

After a while I got a bit bored of rolling down the hill, so I wandered over to the other gate with a stile, our mother had never let us go over there, she said it was to dangerous for us

Because we might get lost.

Because I was not rolling I decided I would collect feathers and weird stones. (By the way I was only 3 then.)

After staring at the style for quite along time I decided to go and fetch the beautiful golden and brown feather that was lying on the footpath.

So I stumbled over to the style and scrambled over it. When I was over the other side I grabbed the feather but it flew into a hollow oak tree. So I followed it.

It went whizzing around me three times, so I went around three times and started screaming I can’t catch you, those words must have been some sort of magic words (you’ll see why later.)

At first when I got out of the tree everything looked the same, but then I spotted something darting across the field. I stood up straight and marched forward. Then I noticed that it had a body like ours so it could not be a dragonfly .I dashed after it. I followed it to a small opening in a hedge, and then all of a sudden I was tiny.

I skipped in through the opening and through lots of small passageways. When I opened the last door I saw the most beautiful sight. Then an elderly lady past and said that I was in the Queen Fairies Palace. And that is how the story ends.
